Kiwano / Horned Cucumber
The kiwano has a fresh, sweet taste and resembles a combination of lemon and banana. The flesh is used in fruit salads and desserts.
Sow in pots from March to April at 22-25°C, and transplant into a hobby greenhouse after about 4 weeks. The plant needs to be supported. The female flowers, which are easy to recognize because there is already a developing ovary underneath, should preferably be pollinated by hand.
